Over the weekend, Republican presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee denounced last week’s shooting at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood as an act of “domestic terrorism,” but used the opportunity to stress that Planned Parenthood’s abortion business is also a form of violence.
“What [Robert Lewis Dear] did is absolutely abominable, especially to us in the pro-life movement,” Huckabee told CNN’s Brianna Keilar, “because there’s nothing about any of us that would condone or in any way look the other way on something like this.” Pro-life leaders have roundly and unequivocally condemned Dear’s actions.
Huckabee went on to stress that “there’s no legitimizing, there’s no rationalizing. It was mass murder. It was absolutely unfathomable.”
Then Huckabee turned his attention to abortion: “And there’s no excuse for killing other people, whether it’s happening inside the Planned Parenthood headquarters, inside their clinics where many millions of babies die, or whether it’s people attacking Planned Parenthood.”
Huckabee is running as a 100% pro-lifer. In addition to insisting Planned Parenthood be investigated for selling aborted babies’ parts and stripped of federal funding for the organization’s illegal and fraudulent actions, he has refused to condone abortion even in cases of rape, explaining that every innocent human being has the unequivocal right to life, despite his or her father’s actions. Huckabee has also called for pro-lifers to be more proactive in resisting the judicial branch’s rulings on abortion.
