#IStandWithThomasPeters day, support the recovery of a pro-life advocate

Thomas Peters, a former Live Action News writer and the blogger behind the American Papist, is a pro-life advocate who was in a terrible swimming accident over the summer. He miraculously survived after an unlikely series of events, and has made great strides in his recovery. Read his reflections about the journey through his survival here. However, the journey is far from over, and Thomas and his wife face a new set of challenges now that he has overcome the hurdle of surviving.

Peters spent months in the hospital, and now faces a future of intense months of physical therapy and rehabilitation in hopes that he will regain some of his mobility. Peters accumulated a large amount of debt from his hospital stays and procedures, and faces much more with the high cost of the rehab that he needs to continue his recovery. Close friends of the Peters family created #IStandWithThomasPeters day to raise awareness about his journey and to encourage supporters to contribute financially to the family’s needs so that Thomas will be able to receive the best care possible, ensuring that he will not have to forego the recommended treatments for financial reasons.

According to his friends,

The next TWO MONTHS of Thomas’ recovery are crucial! According to Thomas’ doctors, the majority of mobility/independence returns within the first six months following the injury. Well, folks… we’ve got two months till the six month marker.

natandthomThomas’ friends are also asking supporters to pray for the Peters family to receive strength as they journey through the next steps together. Thomas and his wife were married just a few months before the accident.

Supporters are invited to participate in the Twitter campaign to raise awareness of Thomas Peters and to help the fundraising efforts. Tweet using the hashtag #IStandWithThomasPeters (as so many others have already done today), and use banners and icons provided on the website on your social media profiles. The blog even provides a few templates to use on Twitter and social media, so there’s no excuse!
