Media covers for Gavin Newsom’s pro-abortion extremism

California Governor Gavin Newsom is widely rumored to be running for president in 2028, and given Newsom’s commitment to all things pro-abortion, it’s a worrying thought. In addition to turning California into a sanctuary for abortion, Newsom has been on a media blitz promoting it.

On a recent “Meet the Press” appearance, moderator Kristen Welker quizzed Newsom on his new series of ads attacking pro-life states. “Let me press you though, Governor; do you think there is a week that access to abortion should be banned?” Welker asked. Newsom refused to name a point at which preborn children should be protected from abortion.

“I think we’ve established that firmly in the context of what states are doing like California where we established a constitutional right to access abortion,” he replied. “At the end of the day, I think that’s a determination for women and their doctors — ”

“At any week?” Welker interjected, only for Newsom to continue talking as if Welker hadn’t asked for more specifics.

” — as it relates to the issue in California, we’ve established that firmly in the state constitution. As it relates to getting into the debate around late-term abortion, that’s a complete canard.”

It’s hard to know what Newsom means by referring to late-term abortions as a “complete canard,” considering the facts about the issue. Depending on what one considers to be a late-term abortion — either in the second or third trimester — at least 10,000 preborn lives are ended in the third trimester by late-term abortion each year; in the second trimester, that number rises to nearly 75,000 annually.

Though Welker displayed journalistic integrity by pressing Newsom on a tough issue, Newsbusters reported that the exchange was ultimately left out of the Sunday airing of the show. While the full interview was on YouTube, the show’s primary audience would have missed it. Clearly, this was a conscious decision not to publicize Newsom’s extreme beliefs on abortion, which are not popular with the American public at large.

Newsom has spent his career promoting extreme pro-abortion policies, including requiring all 11 University of California campuses and 23 California State University campuses to commit chemical abortions at on-campus health centers, making it easier for children to undergo abortions without parental knowledge or consent, and even threatening to boycott Walgreens for abiding by laws in pro-life states.

The DOJ put a pro-life grandmother in jail for protesting the killing of preborn children. Please take 30-seconds to TELL CONGRESS: STOP THE DOJ FROM TARGETING PRO-LIFE AMERICANS.
