It was presented as a newsflash, but it was the news that wasn’t. KRCG-TV in Missouri reports that Planned Parenthood in St. Louis, Missouri, was not found to be dealing in fetal body parts. The only problem with this report is that no one ever claimed it was.
Attorney General Chris Koster sounds like a Planned Parenthood parrot when he concludes:
The evidence reviewed by my investigators supports Planned Parenthood’s representation that fetal tissue is handled in accordance with Missouri law. We have discovered no evidence whatsoever to suggest that Planned Parenthood’s St. Louis facility is selling fetal tissue.
Obviously. If one simply watches the videos from the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), it’s clear that the Missouri Planned Parenthood that was investigated was not selling baby parts when Senior Director of Medical Services for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Deborah Nucatola, tells the buyers:
David Eisenberg is the Medical Director of the St. Louis region. They do 2nd tri’s they have a few extensive collaboration with all kinds of research, pretty dynamic medical director, his name is David Eisenberg. I think that’s definitely worth your while. And just looking at the map, if there was one place that was untapped, I would say St. Louis. (Transcript, page 19)
Eisenberg is also listed an OB/GYN with Barnes Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, located within walking distance of Planned Parenthood of St. Louis.
Live Action also recently reported on this untapped market that fetal parts companies were targeting. Why a state would spend taxpayer money investigating a place not implicated is a question that taxpayers should be asking.
However, even though the attorney general wasted taxpayer money investigating something that was never said to be occurring at that particular Planned Parenthood affiliate, it’s also vital to note that Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards announced, on video, how proud the abortion giant is of its “fetal tissue donation program.” This was Richards’ response following the release of the first undercover video, in which she apologized for the “tone” of Deborah Nucatola’s description of how she illegally performs partial-birth abortions and “crush[es]” body parts in such a way that the most highly desired fetal organs can be obtained whole and undamaged.
Clearly the CMP videos and Richards herself show that Planned Parenthood approves of this gruesome practice and wants to expand it. So the fact that some affiliates are not doing it yet hardly proclaims the innocence of the organization. In his letter to Congress, Planned Parenthood’s attorney also admitted that the abortion giant participates in fetal tissue harvesting. This is why Nucatola was encouraging the buyers to tap the market in St. Louis. There would be potential for profit and more intact baby parts with the later-term abortions.
KRCG’s and other mainstream media outlets’ reporting on this is misleading and irresponsible. It is, of course, aimed to support Planned Parenthood and put to rest doubts in the minds of Missouri residents who were concerned by what they saw in the videos.
But residents have a right to be concerned, and if action is not taken soon against the abortion profiteer, it’s clear it won’t be long until babies are being sliced, diced and sold for parts in St. Louis.
