Spared from death by abortion, NBA star Steph Curry says ‘right’ to abortion is ‘top of my list’

NBA Star, husband, and father of four Stephen “Steph” Curry spoke with CNBC on Wednesday during which he explained that it was an “easy choice” for him to support Vice President Kamala Harris because abortion access is at the top of his list of concerns.

Fresh off the signing of his $62.6 million extension with the Golden State Warriors and his gold medal win at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, and having already appeared in a video at the DNC in which he endorsed Harris, Curry told CNBC that he participated in that video because for him “it’s all about creating conversations that are about being decent human beings, first and foremost. I think we’ve lost that a little bit…”

He continued, “Endorsing Kamala’s important for me, for my family. I just know, from especially women’s rights and thinking about, ya know, what’s at stake with this election and understanding we need to be in a position where women have the right to choose what’s right for them, and that’s at the top of my list for me.”

He said he hopes he is “educated” on the matter. He should be. He was almost a victim of abortion himself.

Curry’s mother, Sonya Curry, became pregnant with him unexpectedly and revealed in her book, “Fierce Love: A Memoir of Family, Faith, and Purpose,” that she had scheduled an abortion to end Curry’s life but ultimately changed her mind.

One report detailed that she was standing outside of the Planned Parenthood facility where the abortion was scheduled and realized that she didn’t want to go through with it. She had previously had an abortion in high school and didn’t want to have a second.

“If I would have gone through that there would have been no Wardell Stephen Curry II, and ya know, God had a plan for that child,” she told Norsworthy. “Just the Spirit interceding at that moment in a way that I didn’t even know at the moment was happening, just spoke to again — the purpose of faith and […] that, ‘Okay I don’t want to make this decision, because that would have been the second time and I don’t want to make that decision again and now I just gotta trust God to move forward with me having this child.’”

She called keeping her baby and leaving the rest up to God the “right decision.” It’s important to remember that God had a plan for her first baby, Curry’s sibling, as well.

Curry and his mother are both Christian so, unsurprisingly, she would praise God for stopping her from going through with the second abortion. What is surprising is that even as a Christian and a person who was nearly killed by abortion, Curry sees protecting abortion — the direct and intentional killing of innocent, preborn children — as a top priority.
