NFL star Benjamin Watson is calling out Virginia Governor Ralph Northam on his pro-abortion stance after Northam set off a firestorm when he voiced his support for the controversial Virginia Repeal Act.
State delegate Kathy Tran notoriously said the bill would allow abortion even when a mother is in labor. Northam’s confusing statement in support of Tran and the bill described a situation in which a terminally ill baby is born alive and receives medical care, in a perhaps intentional move to obscure the issue. Afterward, Northam reaffirmed his support for the bill — yet was still upset that people were angry.
In a tweet, Northam wrote, “I have devoted my life to caring for children and any insinuation otherwise is shameful and disgusting.” That Northam, who is extremely pro-abortion and has received millions of dollars in donations from Planned Parenthood, would make such a claim is laughable — and it didn’t take long for Watson to call him out on it.
Watson, who is openly pro-life, responded on Twitter himself, slamming Northam for refusing to protect preborn children, too. “Children in utero deserve equal devotion Governor,” he said.

Watson has been outspoken about his pro-life beliefs and even spoke at the March for Life, where he encouraged men to stand up and support women in crisis.
“We as men must stand up for the lives of the innocent and their mothers in crisis,” he said at the March. “As important as women have been in championing this cause, you men must rise up and lead the charge. Even if it wasn’t demonstrated for you by a father, you can be different. You can change the course of generations. Men: we can be silent no more!”
He has also called abortion the ultimate form of racism, expressing his disappointment that the black community has fallen for Planned Parenthood’s lies, despite founder Margaret Sanger’s wish to, as Watson said, “exterminate blacks.” He explained, “We (as minorities) support candidates, and overwhelmingly support the idea of having Planned Parenthood and the like, and yet, that is why she created it. We are buying it hook, line, and sinker.”
But Watson doesn’t just speak out against abortion; he also frequently helps support mothers in crisis pregnancies. He has donated ultrasound machines to health providers around the country, writing that “[s]o many men and women struggle with making decisions for life but we know from experience the power and encouragement seeing inside the womb offers.” He has also donated to Maryland crisis pregnancy center Severna Park Pregnancy Clinic, which is contacted by about 7,000 women each year seeking help.
