A new Planned Parenthood mega-facility will be opening in southern Illinois, not far from the Missouri border, according to a report from CBS News. While Planned Parenthood has been opening these large facilities across the country, this one is different, as the abortion corporation deliberately built this facility in secret. According to a press release from Planned Parenthood, the center will offer both medication and surgical abortions.
CBS reported that, beginning in August of 2018, Planned Parenthood used a shell company to build the 18,000 square foot facility in Fairview Heights, specifically to keep anyone from knowing what the building would be used for. “We were really intentional and thoughtful about making sure that we were able to complete this project as expeditiously as possible because we saw the writing on the wall — patients need better access, so we wanted to get it open as quickly as we could,” Colleen McNicholas, chief medical officer for Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, told CBS News.
McNicholas admitted that in the past, local businesses had refused to participate when they knew they were helping to build a Planned Parenthood facility, refusing to install telephone lines or deliver cabinets.

The facility, which should be able to take patients within a month, is located just 13 miles from the one abortion facility remaining in Missouri (also a Planned Parenthood), which McNicholas said was a purposeful decision. “Our supporters, our patients, the board, everyone is so committed to the mission of being present in Missouri and taking the responsibility to provide access to abortion for Missourians in the place they live,” she said to CBS. “Although I am confident it will be a fight, we will continue to show up to that fight.”
Illinois Right to Life, however, argued that this new mega-facility is solely about increasing Planned Parenthood’s profits, and not providing health care to women. “Make no mistake – this new mega-facility is not a response to an increased demand, nor is it a gesture of care for women,” Mary Kay Knorr, the pro-life group’s executive director, said in a statement to the Washington Post. “The construction of this new facility was a strategic business move – certainly not a defense of women.”
Planned Parenthood has been opening more of these giant abortion facilities in recent years, forcing smaller abortion facilities to go out of business while Planned Parenthood takes in triple the number of patients each year. Planned Parenthood’s abortion numbers and market share continue to increase even as national abortion numbers have declined to the lowest level since Roe v. Wade. While Planned Parenthood pretends to be in the business of women’s health care, their sole priority is abortion.
