Planned Parenthood Threatens to Close Appleton, WI Abortion Center

Live Action Investigation Showed Center Staff Misleading, Lying to Patients

Statement from Live Action President Lila Rose:

If Planned Parenthood truly cared about women, it would sooner sacrifice its lucrative abortion “services” than shut down a clinic.  But the abortion giant preferred this past summer to close down four Wisconsin facilities that don’t do abortions.  Now, in the wake of landmark legislation signed by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Planned Parenthood is hysterical at the prospect of closing a real moneymaker: its Appleton abortion facility.

An abortion-sympathetic judge has already offered Planned Parenthood a lifeline, at least until next week.  But Live Action has shown with firsthand undercover evidence that the Appleton facility should have been closed a long time ago.

We investigated this Planned Parenthood in September 2009 and found staff peddling lies and misinformation about the baby’s development in the womb, in a clear attempt to distort the truth of abortion and thereby push the procedure on uninformed women.  Planned Parenthood will say and do anything – including lie and manipulate women – to “make the sale.”  It’s time to put a stop to abortion making a mockery of informed consent – and to judges flouting the people’s will to cover for them.

Live Action is a youth-led movement dedicated to building a culture of life and ending the human rights abuse of abortion. The group uses new media to educate the public about the humanity of the preborn and investigative journalism to expose threats against the vulnerable and defenseless.

In a free vote held in Parliament on Tuesday, MP's are considering two separate amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill, brought forward by Labour MPs Tonia Antoniazzi and Stella Creasey, which both seek to decriminalise abortion in England and Wales. Although abortion is allowed up to 24 weeks under certain criteria laid out in the 1967 Abortion Act, women can still be prosecuted for terminating pregnancies under the Victorian-era 'Offences Against the Person Act' which makes it a crime for a woman to "procure her own miscarriage."
