Saturday Night Live (SNL) alum and actress Leslie Jones published a book last year, “Leslie F*cking Jones: A Memoir,” during which she discussed having multiple abortions. She also appeared on The Daily Show, in a segment where she heavily promoted Planned Parenthood — and for that, the NAACP has nominated her for their Outstanding Image Award.
Jones tweeted about the accomplishment on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying she was “beyond honored” to be recognized for her discussion of the “crucial role” Planned Parenthood played for her. “The battle to ensure the reproductive rights for women in the U.S. continues,” she wrote. “ALL people of the United States need to wake up and join this fight.”

The nomination was likewise applauded by Planned Parenthood itself, with a tweet reading, “Thank you for sharing why Planned Parenthood health centers are so important and for continuing to speak up for reproductive health care access!”
In her book, Jones wrote that a lack of sex education led to her multiple abortions, which began when she was 18. She is now 55.
“All I felt was an urgency to not be pregnant. So, I had an abortion, and it was very hard,” she said. “I don’t want to say it was wrong, because to this day I would do the same thing.” By 27, after her third abortion, she said she realized that it was not meant to be used as birth control, and was given sex education at Planned Parenthood. Jones did not elaborate on why she allegedly received sex education only after a repeated number of abortions and not when she visited them as a teen.
“I still give money to them to this day,” she said. “When I went to Planned Parenthood, I finally learned how to prevent pregnancies and take care of myself. Thank God for those people and what they do.”
Significantly, part of what “those people…do” is end the lives of more than 374,000 preborn children each year. Planned Parenthood is the largest single abortion provider in the U.S., alone providing approximately 40% of all abortions. Recent data has revealed that an estimated 87% of all women obtaining abortions are unmarried, most have had no prior abortions, and half of women seeking abortions were actually already using birth control in the month that they became pregnant.
In her segment on The Daily Show, Jones mostly shared the same story. “That place [Planned Parenthood] provides that type of information,” she said of sex education. “You would not know how much they saved my life… so much, that I have them in my trust. That’s how much I believe that that service needs to be one of the most important things.” She continued, “We already got our rights taken away; we can’t get our health care taken away also.”
She did not specify which “rights” or what type of “health care” she was referencing.
Planned Parenthood is a well-known provider of sex education and birth control, but former sex educators for the abortion corporation have explained that these are used as a means to groom young people as future abortion customers. “[It] Grooms them for STD treatment, and grooms them for abortion,” Monica Cline said. “Teens are being given false ideas that condoms will cover all the bases… They do tell them to get tested and treated – which means coming back to the clinic – and if they are pregnant they are encouraged to get an abortion.”
A former Planned Parenthood manager, Ramona Treviño, gave a similar warning. “The more people use birth control and adopt a contraceptive mentality, the higher the odds that they’ll seek an abortion,” she explained. “Because, let’s face it, if they’re using birth control, a child is not part of the ‘plan.’ Abortion is the backup, so to speak, for contraceptive failure, misuse, or lack of self-control.”
Planned Parenthood has likewise tried to position itself as a legitimate health care provider upon which millions of women rely, but their own annual reports have shown that health care services have continuously plummeted over the years; Leana Wen, who was fired from her position as president of Planned Parenthood, wrote in her book that she wanted to make the organization more health care-centered, but was rebuffed, and ultimately fired because she didn’t prioritize abortion enough.
