Sweeping anti-abortion bill in Kansas under fire

There’s no place like home!

The latest anti-abortion bill considered by the Kansas House of Representatives has created quite a stir, what with its overtly conservative “imbedded implications.”

Basically, with the bill going through, it will be a lot more difficult for a woman to have an abortion in the state of Kansas.

The Huffington Post reports, “The anti-abortion bill … also prevents a medical malpractice suit from being filed should the woman and child subsequently have health issues.”  The bill includes a 6.3% tax on any abortion procedure,  even for those claiming to be rape victims.  The original bill exempts doctors from learning to perform abortions and prevent linked complications if they object to the training based on moral or religious grounds.

The training exemption is alarming to left-wingers.  Rep. Sean Gatewood (D-Topeka) says: “If you don’t train people in abortion, then you never have abortions[;] that is the rumor.”

In the process of review, the bill was amended in removing a clause which required all women desiring an abortion to listen to the fetal heartbeat before the procedure.  However, the bill still upheld that a doctor may withhold information from his patient if said information would emotionally manipulate her into wanting an abortion.

Reports everywhere are inflamed,  saying, “Doctors are now legally allowed to lie to their patients.”

Planned Parenthood public affairs manager, Sarah Gillooly, calls this bill “the largest and most sweeping overhaul we’ve seen to date.”

The 69-page bill will continually face attempted amendments trying to pacify a more liberal audience, but as Representative Joe Patton (R-Topeka) says, “Kansas citizens do not want (abortions).”  Though one would hope that the entirety of the bill will reflect that claim,  unfortunately, just this week, the House committee passed an amendment which allows procedural training for abortions to take place for OBGYNs at the graduate level.  The training continues.

Evidently, the battle in Kansas isn’t over yet — but every clause that encourages the protection of life is a step in the right direction!  May America continue to defend the defenseless,  from the inside out.

Keep clicking those heels together.
