How to volunteer for the pro-life movement… during a pandemic

Planned Parenthood, Biden

April is National Volunteer Month, but it’s a tough time to be out in the world volunteering, especially if you are at high-risk for developing severe symptoms from COVID-19 or have children or elderly family members at home. Many options for volunteering have even been suspended during this difficult and scary time. While you’re at home, doing your part to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, you can still help the pro-life movement save lives and help women choose life.

Educate Yourself

There is a wealth of knowledge online about abortion and even the most knowledgable pro-lifer can always learn something new from another pro-lifer. By reading articles at Live Action News or watching videos on the Live Action YouTube page, you can arm yourself with the truth about abortion, including how abortion businesses are operating amid the pandemic. You can access information on how to better shut down pro-abortion arguments and on how abortions are committed. Numerous pro-life leaders including Live Action President Lila Rose and Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins now have podcasts available as well.

Educate Others

When you find a solid resource to educate others on pro-life topics, you are now armed to educate others through social media posts. You can also simply share posts from Live Action News’ Facebook page and Twitter account, Live Action’s Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter accounts. The valuable information found there has helped countless people realize the horrors of abortion and has assisted many women in choosing life for their children. By sharing, you can be a part of that.

Hold an Online Baby Shower

Pro-life pregnancy centers are still in need of supplies to help women facing unexpected pregnancies. Contact your local center to see what they need and ask if they would let you start a fundraiser for them or open a registry on Amazon where individuals can purchase needed items to be shipped directly to the center. If you personally know of a pregnant woman or couple who is now out of work due to the coronavirus outbreak, ask if you can throw her an online baby shower, where friends can get together and shop in a group video chat using a registry she has set up online.

Attend Online Pro-life Conferences

While large gatherings are all on hold due to the pandemic, many have switched to an online format, making it easier for you to attend. Heartbeat International’s online conference is scheduled for April 14-16, 2020. Local Right to Life chapters are also holding online events, such as the VIRTUAL Education Fund Dinner and Auction that Wisconsin Right to Life is holding on May 14. Check your local pro-life organizations’ websites to see if there is a virtual event you can attend.

Shop Online

We’re all doing a lot of our shopping online these days, and we were even before the pandemic struck. By using AmazonSmile to shop, you can donate to Live Action and other pro-life organizations to help them continue their life-saving work. AmazonSmile will donate 0.5 percent of the purchase price from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to Live Action.

Donate

If you are able, donate financially to your local pro-life organizations to help them help women during this crisis. While pro-abortion groups are heavily funded and abortion businesses such as Planned Parenthood have excess revenue to help them convince women to abort, pro-life organizations rely on donations to keep fighting to end abortion and help women choose life. By donating to them you are helping women and saving lives.

Pray

For those who are religious, prayer is a strong weapon against the evils of abortion and the abortion industry. By praying daily for an end to abortion you can help turn the tide. Pray for those who are working in the abortion industry but looking for a way out. Pray for the leaders of abortion businesses who continue to push lies to convince Americans that abortion is necessary. Pray that political leaders have the strength to fight back against the enormous pressure of the abortion industry and not cave in to its demands as many have in the past.

During this difficult time, many women will face unplanned pregnancies, and businesses like Planned Parenthood are working hard to ensure they remain open for abortion – even while suspending their actual health care services. It’s vital that pro-lifers don’t lose track of the fight to end abortion amid the new rules of social distancing and staying home.
