A whiter tomorrow–brought to you by Planned Parenthood

Nicholas and Lola Kampf believe in a hands-on approach to parenting. In September of 2006, they discovered that their 19-year-old daughter, Katelyn, was pregnant. Upon hearing this news, the Kampf couple lived up to their name (kampf–is German for struggle) by tackling Katelyn, tying her up, and throwing her in the trunk of their car. A road trip was then planned; it was to begin at their home in Maine and end at an abortion clinic in New York where Katelyn would exercise her “right to choose” (possibly with encouragement from the gun that her father had brought along). They hit a snag along the way (as often happens on family outings) when Katelyn managed to escape and contact the police. What could have so animated Mr. and Mrs. Kampf? According to Mark Dion, the sheriff of Cumberland County, the couple felt that their grandchild would be too dark for their liking. “Mrs Kampf was pretty irate about the fact that the child’s father was black,” the sheriff recounted. “She had made a number of disparaging remarks about that.”

Like wife beating and pederasty, racially motivated killings are typically frowned upon these days. It’s true that, with enough googling, one can find a meth-fueled rant calling for the murder of those with various skin tones. It’s also true that there’s no shortage of jihadists agitating for a Judenfrei Palestine. In mainstream America, however, the idea that certain groups should be wiped out is considered reprehensible. Simply put, no one with any public standing would dare suggest that race or gender are legitimate reasons to kill someone. Well, almost no one. While the lynch ropes have been taken down and Klan robes cast off, there remains one major political movement where such attitudes are evidently still acceptable: the pro-”choice” movement. For decades, racism and abortion have had a great relationship, and your tax dollars are helping to sustain it.

Pro-life activist Alveda King (the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King) has often pointed out that abortion clinics are disproportionately located in minority neighborhoods, observing that abortion has cost more African-American lives than gun violence, AIDS, and heart disease combined.  Neo-Nazi leader Tom Metzger has taken note of this fact as well, albeit from a somewhat different perspective. According to the website of his organization, White Aryan Resistance, abortion “should be promoted as a powerful weapon, in the limitation of non-White birth.” The group also advocates government funding for abortion, just as Planned Parenthood does. Interestingly, Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, held a number of views in common with Metzger. Her writings consistently disparaged African-Americans and non-white immigrants, and in 1926 she addressed a rally of the Ku Klux Klan. Apparently, today’s Planned Parenthood is just as willing to accept help from white supremacists as Ms. Sanger was. Live Action has documented telephone conversations in which Planned Parenthood officials agreed to accept donations from individuals who expressed the concern that there are “way too many black people.” Callers were able to specify that their donations would be used to abort “a black baby.” After hearing one caller’s contention that “the less black kids out there, the better,” the official commented that these feelings were “understandable.”

This attitude was evident in the spring of 2011, when Arizona outlawed race and sex selective abortions. Under the new legislation, a doctor would first have to obtain a sworn affidavit from the soon-to-be ex-mother stating that her decision to abort was not motivated by the child’s race or sex. In response, Planned Parenthood chief executive Bryan Howard proclaimed, “This law creates a highly unusual requirement that women state publicly their reason for choosing to terminate a pregnancy — a private decision they already made with their physician, partner and family.” Given Planned Parenthood’s history and current practice, its response was sadly unsurprising.

And now for the worst part: Planned Parenthood doesn’t just operate a racist abortion program–it operates a racist abortion program with your money. Thanks to Congress, the organization receives over three hundred million tax dollars each year. In theory, none of this money is supposed to pay for abortions. In reality, these subsidies simply free up other funds that are then used to offer abortion “services,” mostly in minority areas. What is truly absurd about this is that many of those congressmen and women who are the most supportive of Planned Parenthood are also those who claim to represent the interests of minorities. Planned Parenthood’s agenda may be legal, but there is no need for Congress to fund it. Americans (of whatever color) should remember this fact when they go to the polls.
